Bangladeshi model in Kolkata involving fake Aadhaar and ration cards:
Who and how:
The arrested individual is Shanta Pal, a 28‑year‑old Bangladeshi model, actress, and former airline cabin crew member. Model also ran a food–travel vlog with approx 41,000 Facebook followers
- She was arrested in early August 2025 in Kolkata’s Golf Green area by the Lalbazar Detective Agency.
Fake Identity Demands:
Department seized numerous false Indian identity documents, including many fake Aadhaar cards, a ration card, PAN card, and a voter ID, reportedly obtained with the help of a local department.
One fake Aadhaar counted an address in Purba Bardhaman; another mentioned Kolkata. The ration card was linked to the Kolkata address
Duration of Stay & Life in India:
Shanta entered India in 2023 with a valid visa. Her visa has expired in 2021—police confirmed—but she remained illegally in the country later.
During her illegal stay, she promised in several ventures: property transactions, a car rental service, plans to start a guest house in New Alipore, and even applied for a bank loan apparently to open an restaurant.
Marriage & Personal Connections:
- She reportedly entered into a “digital marriage” with an Indian man from Andhra Pradesh in June 2025—but that marriage certificate is under inspection.
- The couple leased properties in Park Street and later in Golf Green, where they lived together
Investigation Scope:
- Cops are investigating her travel vlogs—especially those advising other Bangladeshi nationals on residing in India via medical visas—to see if she assisted or encouraged similar frauds
- Another suspect, Soumik Dutta, allegedly helped produce the fake documents and was arrested; charges of cheating and conspiracy have been registered.
