New Delhi: At a public hearing held at her home this morning, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked. Her head and hand have been injured. During a “Jansunwai,” a man who was reportedly in his 40s came up to the Chief Minister and assaulted her. The attacker was apprehended right away by the Chief Minister’s security team. He has been charged with attempted murder.

Based on initial reports, the assailant has been identified as Rajesh Sakriya, a native of Rajkot, Gujarat. Rajesh loves dogs, according to his mother, Bhanu, who expressed her displeasure with the Supreme Court’s recent decision to collect stray dogs in Delhi NCR and place them in shelters, according to sources.

According to sources, the assailant pushed the chief minister after first slapping her. Then, before he was overpowered by the Chief Minister’s security, he pulled her hair.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the attack was “premeditated.” According to CCTV footage, the assailant started planning the attack at least 24 hours beforehand. The attacker is seen in the video performing a reconnaissance of the CM’s home, filming there, and attempting a planned assault. The police have been given this video, and a comprehensive investigation is in progress,” it stated.

Every week, the Chief Minister hosts a “Jansunwai” meeting at her home to discuss issues raised by the public. “One person at the meeting attacked the Chief Minister,” stated senior BJP leader Harish Khurana.
